Grand China Chinese Cuisine

Grand China has resided in the Vons shopping center at the corner of Horizon and Horizon Ridge in Henderson for about 9 years. I went on Memorial Day 2015 to sample the cuisine.

Location

Grand China resides among several other dining locations in the shopping center, including Subway, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Cafe Rio.

Inside

I found the establishment to have a clean and comfortable atmosphere, with about 15 booths and several large tables available for seating.

Because I dined there on a holiday, their menu was somewhat limited. My choice of a teriyaki beef bowl was still available, as was the chicken teriyaki ordered by my son. When we arrived at 11:30am on that Monday, we were the first customers there. When we left 45 minutes later, only one other table was occupied.

Observations

Even though I’ve lived in the area for over 10 years, this was my first trip to Grand China, and I left wondering why I hadn’t been there before. From the time we placed our order until our soups arrived was 2 minutes. Just five minutes later, our main courses were served. Granted, we were the first patrons there that day, but I have had slower service at “fast food” places where I was the only customer. I found the two ladies who waited on my table to be attentive, friendly, and helpful in deciding what to order.

The most notable aspect of my visit was the size of the portions. Our teriyaki bowls were $7.95 each, but more than ample in size. Each bowl was served with soup and crunchy noodles, and we found there was more food than either of us could eat. In comparison to popular competitors in the area such as Panda Express or Teriyaki Madness, Grand China provided far more food for the cost. We ate half of our portions and took the rest home as leftovers.

The food was excellent, and neither of us had any complaints regarding our food or the service.

Total bill for two: $22.57, plus tip.

Conclusion

Grand China offers large portions for a great value. I found both the service and the food to be excellent, and I will be returning there again soon.
