Nokia 940 and 940 XL

Earlier this year, rumors of two high-end Windows 10 phones began to circulate. Those were referred to as “Cityman” and “Talkman.” Over the past 6 weeks, I’m seeing these referred to more often as the Nokia Lumia 940 and 940 XL. These are not confirmed names or models, however.

Release Dates

Windows 10 will be released on July 29, and it is generally expected that flagship Windows 10 phones will follow soon thereafter. No firm dates have been set yet. Below are some of the best guesses.

  • GSM Arena reports the release dates as Q2-Q3.
  • Pocket Lint suggests a “summer release
  • Venture Capitalist Post guessed “October
  • NeoWin allegedly obtained a slide presentation in which Microsoft slated Windows 10 Mobile to be released in late September.

If you attempt to reconcile all of the guesses above, one would think that the September 22-30 time frame is the most likely target date (Quarter 3 ends on September 30, while summer ends on September 22). Time will only tell, however.

Specs

Below are some of the key specs reported regarding these phones, keeping in mind that the names and models have not been announced, and that no specs have been confirmed yet.
