Simoniz My Cleaning Secret Review: Does it Work?
About My Cleaning Secret
I first noticed My Cleaning Secret in late night advertising on channels such as HGTV. When I heard “Chef Tony” introduce himself, I immediately recognized the pitchman from previous As Seen on TV kitchen products such as Best Pot Pie Maker or Miracle Blade.
With My Cleaning Secret, we are told that pots, pans, and ovens can be restored to a new condition with this cleaner. My Cleaning Secret comes in a small tub (they refer to it as a “supersize tub” but I would hardly call 14 ounces “super” anything).
In addition to kitchen items, My Cleaning Secret is said to be good for wheels, golf clubs, or barbecues. The product supposedly won’t scratch, and can wipe away rust, stains, tarnish, or lime.
The product website is located at mycleaningsecret.com, which holds a registration date of February 17, 2014 to Dynamic TV Marketing. It is marketed by Allstar Products Group.
Simoniz?
A key selling point of My Cleaning Secret is the use of the Simoniz name, but it is never quite explained what role Simoniz plays in this product. Keep in mind that the Simoniz brand was sold in the late 1990’s and has been used for a variety of cleaners and polishes, typically related to the automobile industry.
How much does My Cleaning Secret Cost?
You can purchase this product from the official website for $9.95 plus $4.95 shipping. A second mandatory “free” tub is included for another $4.95, bringing your total to $19.85. If you stay on the website long enough, a $5 off pop-up will appear.
There is a 30 day money back guarantee, minus shipping.
As of this writing, it is not available in stores.
Reviews
Because the product has only been on the market for a very short period of time, reviews are scant, and I have yet to test the product first hand. When I do, I will be evaluating it to see if it lives up to the hype of the television commercial. Other factors to note will be odor, any residue left behind, etc.
A few review sites have input from the first round of consumers who have tried the product.
Readers of TV Stuff Reviews give the product a 2.5 star rating while those at Epic.reviews give it a 3 star rating. Many of the negative ratings, however, appear to involve the billing process and do not reflect the merits of the product itself. The reviewers who have actually used the product have generally given it favorable marks, although it is worth noting that as of this writing that is a small pool of opinions.
While some reviewers have attempted to rate the product based on reviews of completely different products, this would appear to be a flawed logic unless the ingredients were identical.
I will update this space when I obtain my tub of My Cleaning Secret and give it a proper test.
Similar Products
Amazon’s recommended products states that customers who viewed My Cleaning Secret also viewed and purchased Astonish Cleaning Paste (which runs about $10), and Aqua ChemPacs All-Purpose Heavy-Duty Cleaner, which is more expensive at about $66. Both of those products have high customer marks.
Bottom Line
My Cleaning Secret is a new As Seen on TV product pitched by Chef Tony. It claims to restore pots, pans, and ovens to a like-new state. Early reviews are mixed in part due to slow shipping and a confusing ordering process. Those who have used the product give it somewhat higher marks. There are other well-received cleaners on the market you may want to consider as alternatives.
