My Review and Experience with Serovital-hgh (Jan. 2016 Update)
HGH
I remember hearing about Sylvester Stallone’s use of human growth hormone (HGH), and realized how good he still looked at nearly 70 years old. Although I had been reluctant to go the HGH route, I heard of a product back in 2013 that supposedly helps your body boost hgh, called Serovital-hgh.
Back in late 2013, it was hard not to browse the web without eventually seeing an ad for Serovital-hgh. It could have just me, because I Google a lot of anti-aging stuff, and I know Google delivers ads based on search history. OK, so it was hard for ME to browse the internet without seeing ads for Serovital.
Here were are over two years later, and Serovital-hgh still appears intermittently in ads on television and online.
What is Serovital-hgh?
The website claims Serovital is a blend of amino acids which raises growth hormone in the body. However, it is not human growth hormone but an amino acid supplement. The official website states that taking a blend of amino acids can raise growth hormone levels after two hours:
Our results show that a single oral dose of these amino acids can significantly increase GH Levels after 120 minutes in healthy men and women. Whether these GH changes persist over a longer duration or have other positive effects is being further examined.
The website claims that benefits of Serovital include reduced body fat, improved mood and energy, increased sex drive, stronger bones, increased lean muscle mass, and reduced appearance of wrinkles.
The product cites a study of 16 people whose growth hormone levels were measured in multiple increments of time after taking Serovital vs placebo. The results showed that growth hormone had increased after 2 hours “8 fold from baseline” and were higher than placebo. “Whether these GH changes persist over a longer duration or have other positive effects is being further examined,” it concluded.
Livestrong offers a good recap of some of the benefits found in studies of amino acids. It also warns that amino acids can negatively affect kidney function in some people, or lead to adverse reactions by those who have food allergies.
How much does Serovital-hgh Cost?
It is not cheap at $99 for a one month supply. You may also find it locally at stores such as Ulta or Costco. At least that way you can save yourself the $7 shipping they want to charge, plus the week or so it will take to arrive.
Another reason I suggest picking it up locally is because the official website (serovital.com) wants to automatically bill you every month to keep replenishing your supply at a reduced cost of $80 a month.
The Catch
The website admits there are three conditions to using the product:
- You have to use it alongside a sensible diet and exercise regimen – That probably excludes half of the potential customers right there.
- It has to be taken on an empty stomach – Easy enough.
- It’s cheaper than HGH injections, but will still cost about $100 a month – Youthful vigor is apparently only for the rich.
One more “catch” they don’t really advertise is that you have to use it for about 2 months to even begin to notice any results.
Other Reviews
If you poke around the internet, you can find a wide array of reviews. Consider:
Ulta (896 Reviews)
At Ulta.com, a couple of hundred reviewers in January 2015 gave Serovital a 3 out of 5 star rating. As of July 2016, this has raised to a 3.8 rating.
Wafflesatnoon.com (163 Comments)
Sifting through the reader comments at wafflesatnoon.com, we find a slightly more negative tone. Readers seem to be split down the middle regarding effectiveness. Comments range from the product doing nothing, to a complete reduction of chronic pain.
Supplement Critic (43 Reviews)
In January 2015, the community at SupplementCritic.com had a 1.8 star rating for Serovital, with a mostly negative view of it. That rating has changed to a “67%” rating, or “decent” as of 2016.
The Serovital website concludes with this “irresistible,” if not exaggerated, closing statement:
But there’s no denying that something that has a chance of making you look and feel decades, not years, but DECADES, younger, is… at the very least… irresistible. Frankly, I’m ready to try it. How about you?
What’s in Serovital-hgh?
As it turns out, Serovital is a blend of amino acids with a rather hefty price tag. Several of these are available at supplement vendors such as GNC for a fraction of the price.
- L-Lysine HCI
- L-Arginine HCI
- Oxo-Proline
- N-Acrtyl L-Cysteine
- L-Glutamine
- Schizonepeta (aerial parts) powder
My Experience with Serovital-hgh
So I decided to plunk down a C-Note for a month supply back in ’13. I went through a local Sephora located inside a JC Penney here in Southern Nevada.
I wasn’t even sure at first what it was – a pill, a cream, something else? (It’s a pill, although a liquid form has since been introduced) I can see a fancy cream making me look decades younger, but a pill?
Anyway, I tried Serovital-hgh for a month, following the instructions exactly as stated – taking it in the morning two hours before eating breakfast.
After a month… well, I can’t say I noticed much. Actually I noticed nothing at all. No side effects, and no benefits.
Better at Night?
A gym rat friend of mine said that it would probably work better taking it at night rather than in the morning, even though Serovital’s website says you can take it either time. I wonder if this is why it works for some people and not others?
On the product’s Facebook page, a SeroVital rep responded to a question from a consumer, and highlighted the stringent requirements for using the product:
We only suggest drinking water two hours before and two hours after taking the product. The directions for use are consistent with the study. If you take it out of line with the directions of use we cannot guarantee that it will work as intended.
Competition
I should point out what should be obvious – that Serovital isn’t the only game in town when it comes to HGH boosters. Take a look at Fountain of Youth HGH Complete, which contains many of the ingredients of Serovital – and actually quite a few more. Its cost? $40.
There are also a dizzying number of amino acid supplements available. You can find a seemingly endless stream of amino acid supplements containing many (or all) of the ingredients found in Serovital, usually for significantly less.
After my test with Serovital, I decided to get my amino acids from a highly-rated blend sold by GNC – a 240 count for about $30. As with Serovital, perceived benefits minimal at best, but at least the cost savings was apparent.
Bottom Line
I decided not to offer up another Benjamin in hopes that Serovital-hgh would work for me in month #2. Even if I started to notice something – at what cost is it? $200 to start noticing something? I decided it wasn’t worth it. I may give one of those other HGH boosters a try at some point.
There are simply too many alternatives to ignore. You can find high-quality amino acid blends for a significantly lower cost at virtually any online or local vendor. While supplementation with amino acids is a good idea for most people as a part of a healthy lifestyle, results will not likely be as dramatic as advertising for Serovital suggests.
There is no magic bullet.

This guest commentator is full of garbage. Dr Oz did not endorse this product. What Dr Oz talked about on his show was a combination of amino acids that possibly could boost HGH levels. A couple of the cheap amino acids are in this product, but not all mentioned on Dr Oz. You figure if this GUEST is going to lie about these facts, you might want to consider staying as far away from this product as possible.
That means you’ve been taken Chuck. Your only hope is a class action law suit against this company where you might, if you’re lucky get pennies on the dollar for what you have spent.
You’re full of crap Jazmin, if the is your real name. This stuff is worthless. The way they hook you is by telling you that it takes a while for it to work (sometimes as much as 3-6 months) by the time you’ve figures out this stuff is worthless you have already given them between $300-600.
I’ve been taking Serovital on and off for 4 months. I take it a month and then take a break since I don’t want to over work my pituitary glands. It’s pretty amazing. I run about 6-10 miles a day averaging about 25-30 miles a week (depends on my mood) and it gives me alot of energy and I don’t feel drained afterwards. It improves my mood and my hair is growing alot quicker and my nail beds look amazing. So no @disqus_Vd62CnCaYv:disqus she isn’t full of crap because I noticed changes well before the month was over. If you have a healthy lifestyle and take care of your body, this just helps enhance it more.
same here – I was wondering if you find the effects improve or are negatievely impacted by taking a month off here and there? I occasionally skip a month and just wondering if this will affect overall effectiveness – thanks for any thoughts!
This is not an intelligent argument – I can see these are real reviews because they are consistant with the results i have experienced and you deciding someone is “full of crap” isn’t of any value to anyone. Ever body is different and responds differently so the only way someone will know if and how it works for them is by their own expeience not your short sighted and unfounded rants
So you are taking it?? I just started last night and noticed my stomach a little burny today……did or have u experienced this with Serovital hgh???
Your last name tells it all Mary Ann. You’re full of it!
Serovital isn’t strong enough for extreme muscle gain, it’s just supplement for normal people, not for aspiring muscle builders.
I am a biochemist and the reason to take growth hormone inducers at night is because HGH is produced roughly 90 minutes after falling to sleep. The single most important amino acid that stimulates HGH is L-Arginine. That’s what hospitals use to test for HGH pituitary problems. The other AA’s are “helpers,” but not necessary. You can just take about 2000mg – 3000mg at night, on an empty stomach. But 10grams (note I said grams not milligrams) will most certainly work, though you may have a problem sleeping and it could induce stomach issues. 10 GRAMS before a 45 minute weight lifting regimen is better. Don’t fall prey to pills that cost so much. Maybe the reason they tell you to take it in the morning is because it won’t work as well (although it will work albeit MUCH more slowly), so that you have to keep purchasing more. It’s the only reason I can think that they would tell anyone to take it in the morning, as all research knows HGH is produced during sleep and heavy weight training only. Do your research and go buy a $20 bottle of powdered L-Arginine. The book “Grow Young with HGH” is a great book to read for accurate information.
I purchase this at Ulta on sale for $69
I got mine on EVINE (home shopping) for that price, too. I am going to keep taking it. I have had numbness in my right foot, for over 20yrs, following back surgery. I have noticed that I am slowly getting the feeling back. I also sleep much better. I will say though, that I ached all over in the beginning and even asked my dr. about it. He said that “amino acids cause inflammation–as in a meat based diet and that’s why a plant based diet, is healthier.” But, as the 1st month wore on, I ;no longer felt achy and my joints weren’t swollen. So far, the benefits have far outweighed, the temporary negative side effects. I am now on my second month. (I tried another product years ago, by this same company. I think it was for cellulite. It was a pill also and was AMAZING. That’s why I decided to give this a try).
You’re just full of surprises Infa!
Healthy living, exercise, a Flintstone vitamin now and then, plenty of water for hydration and a balanced diet is all one needs…
Looking good girlfriend 😉
So I have not always been a healthy eater. How long should I take this product before I decide to continue or stop using it?
How do you do that? I am curious to know. What do I buy?
I just recently purchased the serovital maximum strength formula in my opinion it’s very similar but nowhere near as good as its product that was once on the market name extra lean pentacle which delivered immediate results and there was no mandatory dependency for continuous results this product appears to be a watered-down version of extra lean pinnacle I am very disappointed. And also the extra lean was ten times better and just a fraction of the cost of serovital, I have to admit I am not impressed
I began product 6/15/16 used as prescribed. However, couple days ago had strange dreams, but disregarded. Yesterday awoke early AM very lethargic and unable to stay up. Had nightmares all day. Slept thru the night and awoken at 5 AM this morning completely confused and severe nightmares. I stopped the meds this morning and slowly I am beginning to come out of the stupor I felt the last couple days/nights. Not sure if some of my depression/anxiety meds have interacted, but will definitely check out before using anymore. Would like to know if anyone else reacted this way. Thanks,
Yes, if you are taking other meds, I would be careful about combining those with this. Some people take only half a dose.
nothing but a rip off.
How long before you noticed it working?
Care for my body, but after $600 plus, nothing is different from before, I say save your money., does not work at all .
By the way, this was for six months
Thanks for this post. I have been taking it for about 3 weeks now and my nails are growing like crazy and are super hard. I hope I get the skin and hair benefits as well. So far it is definitely doing something. I also have a lot more energy to go running than I had before. I really like it. I just take it in the middle of the night when I get up to use the bathroom. It works fine for me that way.
The concept of HGH boosters has been around for a long time. The problem is they dont work. The study that started it all showed that injections of arginine helped stimulate HGH for about an hour. But there wasnt enough follow up to see longterm results. Bodybuilders are on the cutting edge of sports / perfomance enhancement, so they experimented. Some research into HGH production and they realized that HGH production reaxhes a peak around 1-2 hours after you go to sleep. So they tried oral argenine / ornithine amino mixes before bed. There wasnt much result if any. However, that didnt stop snake oil salesmen from latching on to the idea to foist upon desperate people looking for solutions to problems. The medical industry certainly has turned their back on folks. Endocrinologists arent helping people to achieve a fountain of youth with hormone therapy unless they shell out thousands of dollars. So folks turn to the snake oil. This stuff doesnt work. But if absolutely wanted to try it without going broke, you can go to your local yuppie / hippy health store and just buy an argenine / ornithine amino acide supplement and take it before bed for a month. Its basically the same thing. And yes they sell argenine / ornithine combo supplement like this for a long time for this very reason. All these new snake oil salesmen are doing is dressing the same old stuff up in a new package and selling it for 5x its worth. The provlem is that while the study ahowe injecting argenine stimulated some hgh, oral aminos dont. Your body switches aminos around to get the right ones it needs. When it has enough then superloading with one wont make a difference. It just stripw the amine group off the amino acid and metabolizes the excess as carvohydrate. So taking mega doses of amino acids (unless youre deficient in one) is basically a very expensive way of eating carbohydrates.
FYI,
I emailed the company and they replied not to drink coffee or anything other than water for 2 hours. I would further suggest not drinking extra water other than what it took to get the Serovital down.
Just a side note, I drink black coffee in the morning wait half an our then take the Serovital. I empty the capsules, put the powder in my mouth and and wash it down, then no more water for 2 hours. It’s not great but manageable. I am vegan and also wouldn’t want the yellow food coloring in the capsules anyway. The company said emptying the capsules does not alter the effectiveness.
I think the night idea or middle of the night with water only is the answer.
After taking Sero-Vital for over 40 days, the only result I have experienced is a rash on my face. It started out with a little red spot. This has progressively grown to a large red splotch with many smaller ones on my left cheek, a couple small spots on my nose and a bunch coming out on my right cheek. Plus, not only have I not lost any weight, I have actually gained seven pounds!
But which “product’ are you referring to??? Serovital or Fountain of Youth HGH Complete???
Vommited for hours and when I finally fell asleep….night terrors. Why the hell is anyone still using yellow dyes in “health” products???
if something sounds to good to be true, it usually is. There is no magic bullet …I eat healthy.I walk and some free weights. at age 84 I look and feel good.
This or any other product receives no endorsement from Dr. OZ.
I agree with you 110% it’s an amazing product! I’m very careful about what I do & don’t put in my body & I love SeroVital I take 5 millimeters every morning & it works amazing for me 🙂 & for certain people to just assume that there is a magical product out there that will cure everyone’s health ,energy or even anti-aging issues without living a somewhat healthy lifestyle is just not realistic at all so anyone who takes this just eat well exercise a bit good sleep routines are super crucial & important for anyone’s mind ,body & spirit. Be positive & be well.
Just got the liquid. Going to try and update in a month
